Crossing Into College: Ramirez Brings Skills and Spirit to TSC

Ramirez Takes Next Step in Soccer Journey with TSC Commitment

BROWNSVILLE — Texas Southmost College is inching closer and closer to solidifying its 2025 recruiting class when they signed Brownsville Porter's Angela Ramirez on Thursday, May 22.

Ramirez, a forward, played four years of varsity at Brownsville Porter, helping the Cowgirls win a district title, have success in the playoffs and have strong district seasons as well.

"I feel excited to play with a new team," Ramirez said. She singled out the social experiences of being in a new program, especially at the collegiate level. Meeting new people, traveling, different coaching and of course while pursuing a higher level of education.

"I have always wanted to play college soccer, ever since my parents showed me the sport, I have aways wanted to make it to a college or university," Ramirez said.

Ramirez plans on studying education with the goal of being an art teacher one day.

Women's head coach Jesus Villarreal was thrilled about being able to sign a 'top-player' from Brownsville, he said. Villarreal added that Ramirez has an outstanding right foot that will be pivotal this season for the Scorpions.

"She is a tremendous player and she has all the skills needed for the college level," Villarreal said.

He pointed out her pin-point crosses into the box, her heading abilities and Ramirez's academics as well. Villarreal likes her position to be on the right, but appreciates the versatility that Ramirez brings to the pitch.

TSC Women's team has one more scheduled signing as they head into the summer, but there is still of course the potential for athletes to make it into the squad when the season starts in the fall.
